Lazy & Co Fidonet/BBS Freeware

(collector items)

This page contains some freeware programs Vincent Pomey and I wrote or maintained some years ago for a BBS/Fidonet system (Linn, Fidonet 2:320/100, early 1990s). Nothing has been touched since about 1993, and nothing here is currently maintained or supported. For collectors only.

Most of these programs are in generally portable ANSI C and were tested and developped on the Atari ST and various Unixes.

Now the 1993 description, complete with original typos, with only old addresses edited out, and links to the ZIP files thrown in:

Programs to run a Fidonet node or point on a Unix system

(last update 93-08-19)

If you want to play fido on Unix, here is the list of the currently
available software that we know of :

Bermuda, this is a fido tosser that processes fidonet .PKT files
and dispatches mail to downlinks. It is designed to be
used with the Pandora message base and is suited for use
with Binkley/Bed/LazyBBS (or any program using the pandora
base and a Binkley3 or TheBox format outbound directory).
It includes a utility to delete old messages in the
                message base (like News' expire)
[Unix compatible from version 1.21 and above]

Binkley 3, this is the mailer, ported from the Atari ST version by
Ben Stuyts (2:281/202.6 or benstn@olivetti.nl). It does
EMSI and runs well with Bermuda. Latest version should
be on 2:281/202. At this date running on BSD (NeXT, Sony...)
                systems and Linux.
[Unix version usually 3.02 PL <something>]

ParseLst, this is the nodelist compiler for use with Binkley,
I made a few patch so that the MS-DOS version compile
                on my Unix computer.

LazyBBS, this is a menu-driven BBS running with the Bermuda
message base. All the menus and texts are configurable
(a la QuickBBS). It should be used with an external
download protocols driver (eg rz/sz on Unix systems)
[Unix compatible in version 0.7 and above]

LazyFix, this is an areafix-type utility, to allow node/points
to automatically connect or disconnect some areas.

LazyTick, this is a file mailer, for handling file distribution
                networks with .TIC files.

Pof, this program builds a list of all available files.

BloufGate, this is a Fido/Usenet gateway package, it converts
uucp packets to FidoNet packets and vice versa, gating
                netmail and echomail. [...]

Bed, this is a message editor (whose interface is largely
taken from the Led editor on Atari ST) for a Bermuda
message base. It is running under X/Windows and Motif.
